形態特徵

• Small evergreen Trees, up to 10 m tall, bark gray; ultimate branchlets glabrous; leaf buds mostly glabrous, sometimes slightly pubscent.
• Leaves soft-coriaceous, sometimes red when young, elliptic, oblong or obovate-oblong, 3–10 cm long, 1.2–3 cm broad, apex obtuse, slightly retuse at the tip, base cuneate, margins finely crenulate or near subentire, glabrous on both surfaces, midrib impressed above, lateral veins obscure beneath; petioles 2–5 mm long.
• Flowers dioecious, solitary or 2–5 clustered, axillary, pedicels 2–3 mm long, glabrous, bracts 2, minimal, just beneath sepals. Male flowers: sepals 5, imbricate, ovate, slightly unequal, about 2.5 mm wide, 1.5 mm long, glabrous; petals 5, oblong, about 4–5 mm long, 2.5 mm broad, apex round, base united; stamens 14–20, uniseriate, equal, 3 mm long, glabrous; anther-lobes 2, basifixed, without septum, oblong, 1–2 mm long; filaments united with corona at base Female flowers smaller; ovary locules 3–6, stigma trifid.
• Fruits globose, glabrous, 5–8 mm across, black-purple when mature.Seeds about 20, irregular in shape, 1–2 mm across, coats with beehive-like network.
• Note: Kobuski (1938) in his monograph of <i>Eurya</i> noted 'The veining on the Leaves, except for the midrib, is obscure. This smooth, seemingly unveined leaf surface is one of the outstanding features of the species'. So the obscure veins appeared to be a good
